PiST/// Disiplinlerarası Proje Alanı sizi süreli yayını POST'un İstanbul tanıtımına davet ediyor. 14-16 Mayıs'da Tate Modern'de gerçekleşen No Soul For Sale 2010 – A Festival of Independents'a (Satılık Ruh Yok 2010 – Bağımsızlar Festivali) katılımı PiST'i POST'un yeni sayısını yayınlamak için harekete geçirmişti.

PiST/// ayrıca Alparslan Baloğlu, CYF, Alev Ersan, Maya Ersan, Ingo Giezendanner, İsmail Guyıldar, Selçuk Kırmızıgül, Vasıf Kortun, Cynthia Madansky, Beral Madra, Mohamed, Ünal Oner, Cağla & Alaettin B. Özbek, Özlem Özbek, Şebnem Soher, The Danish Arts Council, Sevinç Üçok, Esin Uslu, Turgut Yıldız ve TNT Turkey, Platform Garanti CAC, Net Copy Center, A4 Ofset, İstanbul 2010 Avrupa Kültür Başkenti Ajansı'na teşekkür eder.

Tanıtım içeceği GUSTA. Efes Pilsen’e teşekkürler.

PiST/// Interdisciplinary Project Space invites you to the Istanbul launch of its periodical POST. Participating in No Soul For Sale 2010 – A Festival of Independents at Tate Modern on 14-16th of May motivated PiST to publish a new edition of POST. The international launch of POST 02 was made in London, in the Turbine Hall, during the celebration of Tate Modern's 10th anniversary. Interestingly this event coincided with PiST's 4th anniversary. This issue of POST aims to explore the dichotomy between Independent vs. Dependent. It contains two original dictionaries, English to English and Turkish to Turkish unfolding the terminology of independence, related to the conditions and perceptions of it in the international art world and life in general. Rather than translating one language to the other these dictionaries, created by Didem Ozbek & Stine Hebert, aspires to point out the differences in languages and cultures. Osman Bozkurt contributed with the photograph Destruction, and Isil Egrikavuk created a transcript of a fictional panel discussion on The Economy of Independence. PiST lists its past 4 years of program as an open invitation for future projects and collaborations with art professionals, spaces and events around the world.

This launch will also feature the Performance Test created by Didem Ozbek & Stine Hebert. The performance is a public examination assessing the degree of the participants' independence. A printed version of the Performance Test figures on the back page of this issue.

The circulation of POST 02 is 10.000. It has already been distributed around the UK and following its launch in Istanbul on June 8th, 2010, it will be distributed in Turkey and internationally.

The publication of POST 02 and PiST's participation in NSFS 2010 at Tate Modern was dependent on the generous support and help from Fusun Eczacibasi, Ebru Ozdemir and Berna Tuglular. PiST/// would also like to thank Alparslan Baloglu, CYF, Alev Ersan, Maya Ersan, Ingo Giezendanner, Ismail Guyildar, Selcuk Kirmizigul, Vasif Kortun, Cynthia Madansky, Beral Madra, Mohamed, Unal Oner, Cagla & Alaettin B. Ozbek, Ozlem Ozbek, Sebnem Soher, The Danish Arts Council, Sevinc Ucok, Esin Uslu, Turgut Yildiz. And TNT Turkey, Platform Garanti CAC, Net Copy Center, A4 Ofset, Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture.

Launch drink GUSTA. Thanks to Efes Pilsen.

To celebrate Tate Modern’s 10th anniversary, the gallery will host No Soul For Sale – A Festival of Independents. The festival will bring together over 70 of the world’s most exciting independent art spaces, non-profit organizations and artists’ collectives, from Shanghai to Rio de Janeiro, to take over the iconic Turbine Hall with an eclectic mix of cutting-edge arts events, performances, music and film on 14-16 May 2010.

Ranging from monumental structures to witty interventions, epic performances to interactive installations, participants will exhibit alongside each other without partitions or walls, creating a pop-up village of global art for visitors to explore. All participants will host a live event of their choice on the dedicated performance space on the Turbine Hall bridge, ranging from talks and screenings to performances.

PiST /// Interdisciplinary Project Space is a non-profit, artist-run space in Istanbul, Turkey co-directed by Osman Bozkurt and Didem Özbek. PiST means dance floor, ring or runway for airplanes in Turkish. Established in May 2006, PiST acts as a runway for art professionals to land in and take off from worldwide. Issues related to urban environments, everyday life and public space/private space conflicts are PiST’s main interests. Throughout its program PiST aims to encourage an ongoing debate related to these concerns and to stimulate contemporary art production. PiST collaborates with local and international art professionals to produce new and experimental work.

For No Soul for Sale – A Festival of Independents 2010 at Tate Modern PiST has collaborated with curator Stine Hebert to explore the dichotomy between Independent vs. Dependent.  This thematic will be unfolded in a Performance Test in the Starr Auditorium Friday 14 May 3.30 – 4.00pm. PiST will also launch a new edition of its periodical POST published especially for this occasion.

PiST’s activities as a production space will continue in the Turbine Hall, where a photocopier allows visitors to order and receive copies of artistic projects and distribute ideas.  In the space artworks by Osman Bozkurt, Isil Egrikavuk and Didem Özbek will be presented alongside with the works of Maya Ersan, Ingo Giezendanner and CYF.
